The total cost of Invisalign typically ranges anywhere from $3,500 to $7,000. The actual cost will depend on a variety of factors. The only way to know for sure how much Invisalign will cost for you or your child is to have an evaluation and get an estimate from your dentist or orthodontist.
Factors Affecting the Cost of Invisalign
There are a number of factors that contribute to the actual cost of Invisalign for an individual:
- Extent of your orthodontic needs. The biggest factor in cost is the extent of the orthodontic corrections the patient needs. In other words, the further the teeth need to be moved, the more aligners will be required. The more aligners you need, the higher the price of your treatment.
- Length of treatment. Another factor is the length of your treatment, which is primarily driven by your orthodontic needs as stated above. During Invisalign treatment you will wear your aligners for about 1 week each until you have worn them all and your teeth are in the correct position. The more aligners you will need, the longer your treatment will be, and the more visits you’ll need at our office. The number of these visits also factors into the total cost of treatment.
- Geographic location. The cost of living in an area will affect everything, including dental and orthodontic services. Your Invisalign treatment may cost more or less than the average depending on where you live and the location of your dentist’s office.
- Your dentist’s individual pricing. Dentists and orthodontists also set their own prices for the services they offer based on a variety of factors such as operating costs, level of experience, and competitive pricing in the area. The average case in our office is $4,500 with the top cost being $5,500. Simple cases may be as little as $3,500. These costs are typically less than metal braces.
- Your insurance. If your dental insurance includes coverage for orthodontic treatment, Invisalign will also be covered. Contact your insurance provider to determine whether or not your plan covers Invisalign and at what amount. Be sure to ask the maximum age that is covered because many plans will not pay if the patient is an adult.
